Cafe Terrace at Night by Vincent Van Gogh was a painting of a cafe in Paris during the the late 19th century. The image here is shrunk so it’s small enough to fit onto an iTouch. The cafe still operates today, even though the front sitting area has shrunk quite a bit over the last 100 years or so, under a different name.
The painting uses mostly cool colors to add to the effect of the freezing night, while the interior of the cafe is full of warm colors that represents the comfort and warmth of the cafe.
Van Gogh uses the same technique in painting the stars as his other painting, Starry Night.
